One of my favorite places in the Carolinas happens to be conveniently located less than an hour away from Clemson University's campus. Lake Jocassee's phenomenal mountain views and unique waterfalls right on the crystal clear lake highlight the beauty of the region.
Lake Hartwell, Lake Keowee, and Lake Jocassee were created in 1973 when Duke Power and the state of South Carolina dammed the Keowee River for hydroelectric purposes. Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee are the first and second cleanest lakes in South Carolina and are located at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. The weather is beautiful and the climate is mild. Lake Jocassee proves a perfect opportunity for a Fall weekend trip to the mountains or a day on the lake in the Summer. There is an information center and boat ramp located on the lake and you can even take a pontoon boat tour. The guide can help you become familiar with Jocassee's unique history, including the lodge and graveyard beneath the lake.

Welcome
This is a blog dedicated to the Carolinas and their incredible potential for travel, from the mountains to the coast. Each week there will be a new featured location in North Carolina or South Carolina, perfect for a vacation or just a day out.
I've grown up in Winston-Salem, NC and currently attend Clemson University in Clemson, SC. I consider both of these areas home and have had some awesome experiences over the years in the Carolinas. This blog can't begin to attest to the many opportunities in the region, but I hope to address some of the best hot spots around.
